Never before…in over 50 years of driving. And “it” occurred when out and about three days ago.
Wifey, grown son and I were out running some errands, and decided to go to a drive-through restaurant for lunch. We’d have sat outside in the shade, except they had closed both their dining area and outdoor eating area because of the coronavirus issue. Thus, my presentation had nothing to do with what followed, other than (possibly) my long hair. In fact, all 3 of us have long hair, and without being up close, could all be interpreted as female.
The driver of the car in line in front of us placed their order at the voice kiosk in line, and eventually moved up to a window. Once they cleared the kiosk, we placed our order, and followed them as they moved ahead. I noticed that they got their order, paid for it, then had another exchange of money after they received their order. But I didn’t think anything of it.
When we pulled up to the window, the clerk handed us our order. Then came the bombshell: “You don’t owe anything, Ma’am…the lady in the car ahead of you paid your bill. Have a nice day.” “OMG, thanks to you and God Bless the lady. I hope you and she have a blessed day. And one of these days, we promise to pay this good deed forward!” “It’s a first for me, too!”
Our lunch was good, and indeed extra special. This is a public thanks to that lady, whomever (and wherever) she may be!
Hugs,
Mandy
